Ramgarh, April 29: The students of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College at Hazaribagh protested over the electricity and water crisis on Friday. Notably, the students of the medical college have been facing trouble in recent days due to the non-availability of water and electricity. As a result, the students have lodged official complaints along with protests with buckets and mugs.
The students reached the office of the college principal Dr A K Singh with buckets and demanded water to complete their daily routine. The students further said that their classes start from nine in the morning, before which they are given breakfast. However, due to lack of water, they are not able to reach classes on time. In such a situation, both their studies and bodies are affected.
The students further said that due to the problem with electricity, they are not able to study. They are troubled due to the carelessness of the college management now and have demanded that the management stop with negligence. As per student complaints, the power cut may extend up to ten hours at a time. With nightfall, because of power cuts, the campus is often plunged into darkness making the students suffer furthermore.
The principal of the college had reached Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay to settle the problems of the students. He said that for the last 10 days the college is not able to fulfil the demands of water for the students as there is only one boring in the campus. Along with this, the college also has construction undergoing in the campus.
He says that water and electricity are to be provided by the Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation. At present, the company which is constructing the building has also not handed over the construction site. “We don’t even have a generator facility in the campus,” the principal complained.
