Sikh outfit rescues 55 Hindus, Sikhs from Afghanistan; special flight to land Delhi today

New Delhi, Sept 25: A special flight organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar, is scheduled to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi with 38 adults, 14 children, and three infants aboard on Sunday afternoon.

After completing the necessary formalities at the Delhi airport, travellers travelling from Afghanistan will head to Gurdwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, K Block in New Delhi’s New Mahavir Nagar.

A special flight organised by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandak Committee, Amritsar with 38 adults, 14 Children and 3 infants onboard is to arrive in Delhi from Aghanistan's Kabul today. 68 Afghan Hindus & Sikhs have arrived till date post the attack at Gurudwara Karte Parwan, Kabul.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is assisting the exodus of marginalised minorities from the Islamic country in collaboration with the Indian World Forum and the Indian Government. Following the June attack on the Gurudwara Karte Parwan in Kabul, as many as 68 Afghan Hindus and Sikhs have arrived. The group is paying for the passengers’ flying fare.

Following the regime shift in Kabul, the Indian World Forum organised and assisted the humanitarian evacuation of more than 300 Afghan Hindus and Sikhs. The World Punjabi Organization, under the direction of Padam Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahney, will aid with rehabilitation.

As of September 25, there were still 43 Hindus and Sikhs living in Afghanistan, while nine applications for electronic visas were still awaiting approval from the Indian government.

Due to the local government in Kabul’s lack of cooperation, four Sri Guru Granth Sahib saroops could not be sent to India in accordance with religious custom.
