Ranchi, Oct 21: Poornima Kumari of Simdega, who was a part of the Indian Women’s team which participated in the ongoing FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup in India, returned to her village in Simdega and was welcomed by the administration and everyone from the village.
The Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar honoured Poornima Kumari on her way to the office by giving flowers and shawls and said that Simdega Police is always ready to take forward the game of Simdega district and will also cooperate fully in the coming days.
She also visited her school where she was welcomed with a bouquet and a welcome song. In her welcome, the headmaster of the school, Subodh Kumar Rajak said that when they started this school, there was no atmosphere of sports. It was gradually after the school holiday and even on Sundays, they used to come here and play football with the children and used to participate in all the competitions happening around and always used to go to the competitions in the Tanger block.
He added that later, with the help of Manoj ji, she got a chance to get a proper training and also got a chance to play from the Hyderabad centre.
Hockey Simdega President Manoj Konbegi and Simdega Police team went from district headquarters to Poornima’s house till Jambahar and became witnesses in every program.
