Dhanbad, Sept 7: Resentment prevails among the faculty members of Sindri College Sindri, a constituent unit of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad, after relatives of a girl student roughed up a senior teacher in front of the principal in the institution.
The relatives of the girl student alleged that the teacher asked her to give ’Sweet of Love’ in exchange for signing on the document for admission when she approached him in the department.
Principal Dr KK Pathak has set up a five-member committee to probe the allegation. The teacher and the relatives of the student, both have lodged a complaint in the police station against each other.
As per the allegation of the girl, the incident occurred on Tuesday. She had gone to the college to take admission in graduation. For verification of the documents, she reached out to Dr Surendra Yadav (professor of the history department). She alleged that the teacher asked her to give ‘sweets of love’ in exchange for signing.
She informed this to her guardian. On Wednesday, her guardian reached Sindri College in large numbers with relatives and lodged a complaint to the principal. They also abused and beat up the teacher without hearing his plea.
The professor denied the allegation and said that he had never seen the girl.
Faculty members of the college became aghast over the assault on the teacher that too in the presence of the principal in the institution over an absurd allegation.
“Is it possible a teacher can ask such words to a student who came to college first time for admission? This is not possible and allegation requires investigation,” said a senior professor of the college.
Sindri police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar Singh said that the teacher and relatives of the girl, both have lodged a complaint. After investigation, an FIR would be lodged.
Meanwhile, principal Dr K K Pathak has set up a five-member committee comprising Dr Anuradha Das, Dr Sunita Jaiswal, Dr Sharmistha Acharya, Dr Nitu Gaurav and Dr Shivshankar Jha to probe the incident.
