Singapore, Oct 11: Singapore will reopen its border to vaccinated visitors from 11 countries from October 19. However, India has not been included in the list of countries allowed quarantine free entry under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) for now, the country said.
The Singapore government’s VTL scheme covers seven European countries – Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom, Germany, United States and Canada. People travelling from South Korea will be able to enter Singapore quarantine free from November 15.
However, passengers arriving in Singapore must undergo a PCR Covid-19 test within 48 hours of flight departure and take another test on arrival at Changi Airport. In addition to this, Non-residents of Singapore must also apply for a vaccinated travel pass(VRP) online between seven and thirty days prior to the intended entry.
“Singapore cannot stay locked down and closed off indefinitely. We would be unable to resume our lives, participate in social activities, open our borders and revive our economy”, said Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore Prime Minister.
Notably, the Singapore VTL at the moment does not cover visitors from China, Indonesia and India. These three countries are the top three countries from which visitors came in 2019. Together they accounted for around 43% of all visitors to Singapore in 2019. From India only, 1.42 million people visited Singapore in 2019.
