New Delhi, Oct.2: Army Chief General MM Naravane, who is conducting a security evaluation of forward areas in eastern Ladakh, said on Saturday that China has created substantial infrastructure on the other side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC), but that Indian forces are prepared for any scenario.

“China has built a lot of infrastructure on its side to deploy more troops. We are monitoring so that we are ready to respond. We have inducted advanced weaponry. We are strong, we are ready to face any situation,” he said.

Gen Naravane is in eastern Ladakh for a two-day tour to assess India’s operational readiness in the wake of the country’s long-running military stalemate with China in the mountainous region. The visit comes just two months after the second round of disengagement between Indian and Chinese soldiers, which took place in early August when both sides pulled back their forward positioned troops from Gogra point.

The Chief of Army Staff stated that India is working hard to find a long-term solution to the border standoff with China’s People’s Liberation Army, and that the two sides can agree on further disengagement at the next round of Corps Commander Talks.

“Talks keep happening at all levels, 12 rounds have happened till now. The 13th round is expected soon. I’m hopeful that the remaining points will be cleared soon. Negotiations are underway for pullback at Hot Springs; other friction areas like Depsang and Demchok will be taken up for discussion soon,” the General said.
