Palamu, Feb 15: A dispute between two communities in Panki of the district on Wednesday morning followed by stone-pelting between the two sides has resulted in Section 144 being imposed in the area to control the situation.
Along with this, internet services have been stopped in Panki. Earlier, several police personnel were injured while trying to control the situation. Several people have also been injured from both the sides. The injured are being treated at the local hospital. The miscreants are reported to have set a bike on fire and vandalized nearby shops as well. After the incident, Panki Bazar has been converted into a police cantonment.
At the same time, in view of the increased tension, monitoring has also been increased on social media. All the officers of the district including DC, SP are camping on the spot. Along with this, officials along with several residents are also appealing to maintain peace.
On the other hand, Palamu IG has appealed people to not spread rumors on social media. Police is also keeping a close watch on those spreading rumours. Along with this, the police officers are trying to pacify both the parties as well in order to end the dispute.
According to the information, after the incident, many stations in-charge including Tarhasi, Pipratand, Lesliganj and Panki police have also reached the spot. The police of Panki police station is engaged in convincing the people of both the communities. More than 100 jawans have been deployed to control the incident as well.
Sources have also claimed that the people of one side were busy preparing and hoisting flags for the preparation of their festival. Meanwhile, people of the other side opposed it. There was an argument between the people from both the sides regarding this matter. Things got worse and stone pelting and vandalism began from both the sides. People of both the communities and police personnel were injured in this incident. Although, the situation is said to be under control now.
