Jamshedpur, Feb 25: The West Singhbhum police today arrested six naxals, including four who used to supply detonators to the CPI-Maoist commanders who have presently taken hold of Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions by planting unspecified number of IEDs.
Those arrested were identified as Baj Hembram, Dubraj Hembram, Turi Hembram, Palsingh Hembram, Damu Koda and Birsingh Koda.
While the Hembrams were arrested for supplying detonators to the rebels in naxal-seized Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions, the two Kodas were arrested for being indulged in naxal-sponsored violences in West Singhbhum in the years 2021 and 2022.
Revealing about the breakthrough, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said today that they had set up a team to find out the elements indulged in providing detonators and explosive materials to the naxals anchored in the forest.
“Acting on a specific information, the team of police officials first succeeded in nabbing Baj Hembram with two pieces of detonators. On being interrogated, Baj confessed to be an active member of the naxal outfit and admitted to have been supplying the explosives to the naxal commanders presently taking hold of the two forest divisions. It was after further interrogation that the team of police officers succeeded to nab three more detonator suppliers from the Goelkera police station area, ” said Kumar while addressing a press conference.
