Ranchi, Sept.27: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotasava will be organised in smart city Ranchi on the initiative of the union urban and housing affairs ministry.
Under the programme, events like place making, film festival, freedom from crime and freedom from traffic and cycling for women besides identifying the junior walk and cycle champion among others will be organised.
The purpose of the programme is to create a good atmosphere in the city with participation of common people.
Under place making events, parks located in the posh localities and near Raj Bhawan will be renovated within 75 hours and during this hour several competitions will be organised involving senior citizens. Date fixed for the event is from September 30 to October 2.
Under freedom from crime and freedom from traffic events, people will be made aware of the systems developed for crime control and measures being taken to fight against traffic congestion. Children will be taken to command, control and communication centres from where vigil on the entire city can be kept sitting at one place. It will be organised from October 1 to October 3. They will be shown live demonstrations to give them a sense of its use in crime control and traffic regulation besides others.
Under the cycling for women event, women will move in the city riding on bicycles at 7pm on September 30 to create a sense of women empowerment. Some basic training will also be imparted.
Under the identify junior walk and cycle champion, a cycling and walking competition will be organised for kids on October 1 in the morning at Morabadi ground. On the same day, a bicycle marathon will also be organised to promote cycling in the city.
Under the film festival, which will be known as Gandhi Film Festival, over a dozen and a half films of national and international fame will be shown from October 2 to 4 by Ranchi Smart City Corporation, Tourism Department and Mission Blue Foundation. The films will be based on the lives of freedom fighters.
An investors meet will be organised on October 2 at Hotel BNR Chanakya to pave the path of successful auctioning of 42 plots in the smart city amid celebration. Area of total plots to be auctioned is 218 acres.
