Dhanbad, Sept 29: The patients of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College (SNMMCH) Dhanbad will get e-Hospital facilities within four months.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Barun Ranjan with SNMMCH principal Dr Jyotirajan Prasad, superintendent Dr Anil Kumar and other officers of the administration.
The DC directed the principal and the superintendent to restore e-Hospital facilities so that patients of the hospital do not need to be referred to other superspeciality health centres.
“There would be no scarcity of funds. The District Mineral Fund Trust (DMFT) would bear the cost of diagnostic machines and other requirements,” the DC said.
SNMMCH superintendent Dr Anil Kumar said that if all goes as per plan then the Health Information Management System (HIMS) would be set up for e-Hospital facilities at the hospital of SNMMCH from January.
At present, e-Hospital facilities in Jharkhand are available only at AIIMS Deoghar. The Sadar Hospital in Deoghar has also started the process. SNMMCH Dhanbad would become the first state government-owned medical college to have such facilities.
Under e-Hospital facilities, the health card of the patient, including details such as his disease, which doctor treated him and other reports would be available online and it could be opened at any health centre across the country.
Principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad and Superintendent Dr Anil Kumar said that e-Hospital facilities would save time of patients, doctors and health staff and provide timely treatment.
The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the administrator of the medical college, has also sought a list of requirements from the Superintendent and has directed the restoration of infrastructure, including machines in the first phase.
Taking serious note of the problem of patients in getting registration for OPD due to the mad rush, DC Barun Ranjan at the meeting asked to make an online registration system as soon as possible. Over 2000 patients get registered at the OPD of SNMMCH per day. Patients of Giridih, Jamtara also come to the medical college hospital and they face sheer hardship in registration.
At the meeting, the DC also directed to shift the central emergency in Cathlab by October 15.
