SNMMCH Marathon: Bikram Modi, Khushboo Saw emerge champs

Dhanbad, Sept 27: Bikram Modi and Khushboo Saw emerged champions in the boys’ and girls’ sections respectively in the Marathon organized by the Jharkhand State  AIDS Control Society at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital for awareness against HIV.

After Bikram, Kumar  Akshay and  Subham Kumar got second and third place respectively in the boys’ section.

The organizer also gave consolation prizes to 10  top runners, Balmukund, Kamal Kishore, Susant, Niraj, Guddu, Aman Kumar and  Satyaranjan along with the top three.

In the girls’ section, Riky and Neha got second and third positions respectively. Seven runners Chanchal, Puja, Laxmi, Manisha, Nanhi, Mamta and Soumya were also given consolation prizes.

On the occasion, Dhanbad Sadar  MLA Raj Sinha was the chief guest and he highly appreciated this step of the medical college for organizing the event imparting awareness against the fatal disease among students.

He shed light on the importance of awareness against HIV and said that awareness is necessary for society.

SNMMCH principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad while flagging off the marathon along with  MLA and superintendent Dr Anil Kumar, said that HIV is a dangerous disease and due to lack of proper medicines, it has not been controlled. “One can be protected only through precaution for which awareness is important,” said the principal.

The Principal said three top runners were also given cash awards of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively in both the sections.

Superintendent Dr Anil Kumar encouraged and appreciated the MBBS students for participating in the marathon for awareness against  HIV. “ Your efforts would leave a major impact on the common man against HIV,” he said. The superintendent also praised organizers for holding the event successfully.

Nodal officer of the programme Dr Sujit Tiwari said that the Jharkhand State AIDS Control Society organized the marathon for awareness against HIV. The run was organized separately for boys’ and girls’  students and they participated in large numbers.

The run was flagged off at the college administrative building. The participants after crossing the Steel Gate ran to the Saraidhela police station and returned to the medical college.

Dr Sujit Tiwari said that under the awareness programme, quiz, debates and street play will be also organised.

PSM HOD Dr RR Jha and  Dr Rishav Rana were other organizers.
