Ranchi, Oct.4:  Social audit of the food supply scheme for tribal PTG, Dakiya Yojana, will be done in Jharkhand.

Social audit is a process of reviewing official records and determining whether state-reported expenditures reflect the actual monies spent on the ground.

State finance and food supply minister Rameshwar Oraon informed this saying that during the audit houses of 73,000 primitive tribal families residing in dense forest, hills and river sides will be approached and their problems in getting food grains will be jotted down.

“From October 22 to November 20 the verification process will be completed and by December 22 the hearing will be completed. The purpose of the social audit is to learn from shortcoming and improve the system,” Oraon said

Notably, the Food and Civil Supplies Department launched a free rice scheme for primitive tribal groups (PTG) called as PTG Dakia Yojana.

In Jharkhand state, eight tribes are under primitive tribal groups (PTG) and they are Asur, Birhor, Birajia, Korwa, Parahiya (Baiga), Sabar, Mal Pahariya and Souriya Pahariya.

Under this scheme, the state government provides 35-kg bags of rice per month to the primitive tribal groups (PTG) in Jharkhand. The food grains were provided door-to-door by the government employees of the Food and Civil Supplies Department in Jharkhand.

The scheme was started first in three districts including, Godda, Sahebganj and Palamu. More than 73,000 (Primitive Tribal Group) PTG families got benefitted under this scheme. For the packaging of the rice, women self-help groups manage the work of creating rice packets which help to make them financially strong.
