PATNA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav of removing furniture and appliances, including air conditioners, hydraulic beds, sofas, and other essential items, from the official bungalow he vacated. The bungalow, located at 5 Deshratan Road in Patna, was assigned to Tejashwi during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

The BJP claims that the items, which were present when former Deputy CM Sushil Modi occupied the bungalow, have been “stolen” as they are missing from the residence ahead of its handover to the new Deputy CM, Samrat Chaudhary. Samrat Chaudhary is scheduled to move into the bungalow on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami.

“We are bringing to light how the Deputy Chief Minister’s house has been robbed of its belongings. More than 20 split ACs, two hydraulic beds, sofa sets, and even lights have been taken. There is no computer or chair in the operating room, and the kitchen is missing a fridge and water filter (RO),” said Shatrughan Prasad, Personal Secretary of Samrat Chaudhary, to IANS.

The RJD quickly responded to these allegations, challenging the BJP to release an official inventory of the bungalow’s items through the Bhawan Nirman Vibhag (building department). RJD national spokesperson Shakti Yadav stated, “We have all the evidence, including videos recorded by our team and the media during the vacating process. If the inventory is not released, BJP must apologize for their baseless claims.”

Union Minister Giriraj Singh also weighed in, demanding a probe into the matter to assess the alleged “theft” of items from the bungalow. “The essentials like wash basins, taps, and furniture are missing. Even the hydraulic bed and the mat in the badminton court have been taken away,” Singh claimed.

The bungalow, which had been allotted to Tejashwi during his term as Deputy CM when the RJD was in alliance with Nitish Kumar’s government, has now been reassigned to Samrat Chaudhary following the political reshuffle.

As tensions escalate between the BJP and RJD, the controversy over the missing items from the official residence remains unresolved, with the Bhawan Nirman Vibhag yet to confirm or deny the allegations.
