Daltonganj, June 15: Five water bodies in the Betla National Park are being replenished by solar power-driven water with the help of the submersible pumps.

The five water bodies namely Madhuchuan, Nunahee, Nawa Bandh, Garee Gate and Sidha Patch are the lifeline of the Betla National Park and it is being saved from having dead water level by getting replenished with solar power-driven water.

Chief conservator of forest and field director of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) Kumar Ashutosh said the solar power-driven water has kept these five water bodies alive and useful for the big and small wildlife alike in the Betla National Park in this terrible heat and all around the scarcity of water.

Range officer Shanker Paswan said, “We are using tankers for filling the water troughs in the Betla National Park. The tankers bring water from our one deep well behind our Tree House in the Betla National Park.”

There are 35 water troughs in the Betla National Park and there is a sanctity of it.

If any buffalo of a village farmer incidentally sits in the water-filled trough just to beat the heat, the wildlife then gets repulsed and refuses to drink water from the trough for the reason that the buffaloes leave behind a pungent stink in water when a buffalo sits in the water. No wildlife likes water stinking!
