Dhanbad, Dec 10: An orientation programme was organized at BIT Sindri for the Post Graduate (PG) and PhD registered students of various departments of the institute on Saturday.
Dr DK Singh, the director of the BIT Sindri in his inaugural address motivated and guided the student to do novel work. He also explained the proper literature survey methodology to identify the gaps.
Dr Singh asked the students to solve the problems of society and industry during their research. He suggested the senior faculty members share their experiences and motivate the scholars in research.
Earlier, Dr Pankaj Raj welcomed the participants and briefed them about the PG and PhD programmes of the institution. Heads of the different departments of the institute also addressed the students and called upon them to emphasize carrying out interdisciplinary research. They inspired research scholars to publish quality research papers.
Dr Nimala Soren, the Dean of Research and Consultancy, while interacting with scholars made them aware of the requirement of research work and facilities coming up at BIT. Professor In-Charge PG & PhD Dr Chandan Kumar explained the key points of PhD Ordinance like coursework, credits of coursework, duration to complete the course, publication requirements, progress presentation and others.
During the orientation, a question-answer session was also organized where the participants placed their queries and Dean Academic and PhD answered their queries.
Dr Upendra Prasad, Dr BN Rai, Dr RV Singh, Dr Manoj Kumar and others were also present. Professor In-Charge PG & PhD Dr Chandan Kumar proposed votes of thanks at the end. The participants who registered for PG and PhD scholars expressed satisfaction with the orientation programme and said that it cleared their confusion on certain points.
