Ranchi, June 4: A joint squad of Delhi police’s special cell and Jharkhand police’s special investigation team (SIT) arrested four people for killing Kamal Bhushan many times in broad daylight.
Arrests were made in Delhi’s Gazipur neighbourhood on the nights of June 3 and 4.
Jasmeet Singh, Dy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), issued a press statement today announcing the breakthrough.
Rahul Kujur (22), Bhushan’s son-in-law, and his father Dablu Kujur (47), both residents of Hesal under the Sukhdev Nagar police station area, as well as Kawsih Adman (26), a resident of Maulana Azad Colony in the Namkum police station area, and Munawar Afaque (23), a resident of Kanta Toli in the Lower Bazar police station area, are among the four.
The breakthrough occurred when the Ranchi SP, in light of the sensitivity of the case and public outcry over the killing, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to apprehend the offenders. The Jharkhand Police team that arrived in Delhi on June 3 provided information to the special cell in this regard. Following a tip-off, a joint team of Special Cell and SIT Jharkhand Police was formed, and repeated raids were undertaken at the suspected hideouts in various areas throughout Delhi, culminating in the arrest of all four accused persons during the night in Gazipur.
Those detained have admitted that they fired indiscriminately with various firearms at Kamal Bhushan sitting in his car with his driver and bodyguard outside Galaxia Mall, Ratu Road in Ranchi on May 30 in broad daylight as part of a conspiracy with their colleagues.
Bhushan, who died as a result of his injuries, had received five gunshot wounds. The accused persons perpetrated the heinous murder to avenge Bhushan’s bid to kill Rahul in February of this year, during which Rahul was hurt in his leg. The accused suspects have admitted that they fled to Calcutta soon after perpetrating the murder in order to avoid being apprehended, and then returned to Delhi on June 3. The above-mentioned murder case is currently being investigated, including the arrest of at least four people.
Accused persons have been arrested in a variety of criminal cases in Jharkhand, including extortion, murder, attempted murder, threat, conspiracy, assault, harm, intimidation, and the arms act. Further interrogation of the accused is underway.
