Panaji, Aug 28: Three of the suspects apprehended in the suspected murder of BJP politician Sonali Phogat were remanded to police custody by a Goa court on Sunday for a period of five days, according to a senior police official.
The three defendants were presented before the Panaji court by the police: Ramakant Mandrekar and Dattaprasad Gaonkar, two drug dealers, and Edwin Nunes, owner of the Curlies restaurant in Goa.
According to the official, the court ordered their five-day detention in police custody. The official said that Nunes had also submitted a bail application, but the court had denied it.

On August 23, a day after arriving in the coastal state, Phogat (43), a former Tik Tok celebrity and “Big Boss” contender, was brought dead to a hospital in the North Goa district.
An official reported earlier in the day that on Saturday night, the Anjuna police in North Goa detained drug dealer Rama alias Ramadas Mandrekar for allegedly selling drugs to another dealer, Dattaprasad Gaonkar, who is already detained in connection with the case.
Prior to this, the police had also detained two of Phogat’s friends, Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Singh, who had travelled with her to Goa.
A court on Saturday remanded Sangwan and Singh in police detention for ten days after charging them with murder.
