New Delhi, Aug 27: The two primary suspects in the murder of actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat, Sukhwinder Singh and Sudhir Sangwan, have been placed in 10-day police custody.
Edwin Nunes, the owner of Curlies Beach Shack in Anjuna, and Dattprashad Gaonkar, a suspected drug dealer, were both detained by police on Saturday, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to four.

“Drug peddler who had supplied drugs (to accused) has been arrested. The owner of the shack where drugs were found has been arrested too. The investigation is going on well. Multiple teams are working. We will send one team to Haryana too,” said Jaspal Singh, Director General of Police.
A police team will be sent to Haryana for further investigation.
“We will send one team to Haryana to verify some allegations and suspicions levelled by the family because those doubts would also have bearing on the investigation. As per the briefing by the Investigating Officer, Goa Police’s investigation is going in the correct direction,” DGP Singh further told ANI.
Goa police have added another FIR against the Curlies owner and drug dealer under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
In connection with the alleged murder, Sudhir Sangwan, a close aide of Phogat, and Sukhwinder Singh were detained on Friday. According to the police, the two people who travelled to Goa with Phogat on August 22 admitted during questioning that they had forced her to swallow a substance laced with a “obnoxious” chemical on purpose. Today, the court will see both of the accused.
In the meantime, Sukhwinder Singh is said to have received drugs from the alleged peddler Gaonkar detained today. According to the inquiry, the police detained the drug supplier, according to Anjuna Police.
On August 23, Sonali Phogat, 42, was pronounced dead at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. Her body had blunt force trauma, according to a post-mortem report, and the Goa Police then opened a murder investigation.
When police gained access to the CCTV footage showing the group partying at a club, they made the arrests of Phogat’s PA and his friend.
