Jamshedpur, Jan 3: Making the South Eastern Railway a “Zero Scrap” railway is one of the mission areas of this zone. Necessary steps are being taken by all the divisions and workshops to realise value from the sale of unserviceable materials.
South Eastern Railway has crossed the scrap sale figure of Rs.300 crore by the end of the third quarter of the financial year 2022-23 and the total sale achieved is Rs. 300.63 crores till December 31, 2022.
Scrap sale of Rs. 300.63 crore is 38.56 per cent higher than the corresponding period of last year. It is also 30.14 per cent higher than the proportionate target of Rs.231 crore up to December 2022 in the current financial year.
A public relations officer of SER said this has been achieved through the sale of various kinds of scrap which includes scrap rails, condemned locos, wagons and coaches, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, miscellaneous scrap, abandoned masonry structures and other structures etc.
