SP leaders Azam Khan, Abdullah Azam Khan take oath as MLAs in UP

Lucknow, May 23: Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam Khan took oath as MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Monday, three days after being released on bail.

After 27 months in prison, SP commander Azam Khan was eventually released on May 20. Khan, the Samajwadi Party’s assembly member for Rampur (Sadar), was released after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail in the 89th case filed against him.

While his family expressed joy at his return, they were joined by Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia Chief Shivpal Yadav, who has been a consistent supporter of Khan despite his party leadership abandoning him, particularly Shivpal’s nephew Akhilesh Yadav.
