Daltonganj, April 25: Mourning and anger filled Latehar including the Sadar hospital after the Balumath block president of JMM Dil Sher Khan (30) was shot dead at the railway coal siding in Kusmahi.
According to sources, now the Latehar police are out to nab the assailants. As it was a broad daylight shootout and there were many people around at the site following a fire in the small dump of the stocked coal there at the railway coal siding, collecting the features and physique of the assailants and their weapons will not be difficult for the police.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan told lagatar24.com today that an SIT (special investigation team) has been formed led by Balumath SDPO Ajit Kumar.
“We have put officers in charge of various police stations of the contiguity of Balumath police station in the SIT from where police look to collect clues to the murder,” the SP said.
Sources said the deceased Khan was often taunted by some people for having a jackpot like a railway coal siding Kusmahi.
SP Latehar discounted any tinge of hate crime. He, nevertheless, said the murder case will be investigated thoroughly and from all probable angles.
Khan was gunned down by unidentified bike-borne assailants. He was shot in the forehead and pelvis region.
Earlier, it was suspected that the bullet is lodged in his forehead but the post-mortem report revealed that no bullet was found lodged there, according to one of the three doctors who conducted the procedure. The bullet was finally found lodged in the pelvis region which was retrieved after many efforts.
There was a great hullaballoo over Khan’s post-mortem. The grief-stricken family of Khan first decided not to have an autopsy and took the body out of the Sadar hospital only to return for the post-mortem in the evening around 4. 30 pm on Sunday.
Khan’s family refused to go for post mortem which was tried to be set in the frame of law by the doctor which requires the family to give in written approval about no post-mortem of the deceased.
The refusal of the family not to go for the post mortem is too essential to be entered into the medical records by the doctor for references in the court of law in the event of if and when the case opens for legal proceedings said sources.
Sources said when a person is brought dead which means no medical assistance was given thereafter, any refusal of the post mortem has to follow a standard protocol for it.
The Latehar Sadar hospital doctor, who had issued certification for brought dead, asked Khan’s family to give in writing its refusal which was misconstrued as said doctor’s throwing spanner in a situation which was grave and delicate.
Sources said the said doctor now faces a show-cause notice from the Latehar civil surgeon Dr Haren Chandra Mahto under express order of the DC Latehar Abu Imran for lack of tactfulness, immediacy and swiftness of action preceding the post mortem of Khan.
CS Dr Haren Chandra Mahto confirmed that he has slapped show-cause notice to a doctor and one driver of the hearse van and the two are to submit their explanation within 24 hours.
Sources said the driver of the hearse van has been served the notice for not keeping the vehicle in order.
However, lagatar24.com has learnt from the sources available in the Latehar Sadar hospital that adequate crowd management at the hospital was needed.
DC Latehar Abu Imran was present in the hospital to oversee the things but as tempers were running too high, no one was ready to listen to reasoning.
