Jaipur: A SpiceJet ground staff member was arrested recently for allegedly slapping a CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) assistant sub-inspector at Jaipur Airport amid a dispute over security procedures, sources revealed.

According to police sources, Anuradha Rani, part of the ground crew responsible for loading food and beverages onto aircraft, refused to undergo a security frisk at the side gate of the airport due to the absence of a woman constable. The incident occurred around 4 am on Thursday despite Rani possessing the necessary entry documents.

The disagreement escalated into an argument between Rani and the CISF personnel, prompting the intervention of a woman constable. It was during this confrontation that Rani allegedly lost her temper and slapped the assistant sub-inspector, leading to her subsequent arrest and placement in judicial custody.

SpiceJet, in response, filed a counter FIR alleging that the CISF personnel used “sexually coloured language” and made inappropriate advances towards Rani. The airline condemned the alleged behavior as “sexual harassment” and stated that they were pursuing legal action against the CISF jawan.

“We stand firmly by our employee and are committed to providing her with full support in this serious case of sexual harassment,” a spokesperson for SpiceJet asserted. The airline emphasized their cooperation with local authorities and expressed readiness to address the issue through legal channels.

The incident at Jaipur Airport has sparked debate over security protocols and employee safety, highlighting the complexities faced by airport personnel in ensuring both security compliance and respectful conduct in workplace interactions.
