Ranchi, Feb.9: Cosmetic items in Jharkhand are under the scanner of the state drugs control directorate and in this situation cosmetic users need to be very careful in selection of the items in the interest of their skin.
An official of the state drug control directorate informed this saying during a two-day raid concluded a couple of days back several items being used to prepare cosmetic items illegally were seized and work is in progress to test its purity in the laboratory.
Director (drugs) Ritu Sahay confirmed the situation saying the decision to conduct raids was taken after several complaints regarding production of spurious cosmetics reached the office.
“Raids were conducted in Namkum and different parts of Ranchi and many items were seized. Though no one could be arrested, many items used in the illegal business of cosmetic production were seized. The Offense report has been submitted to district court. Now documentation work is going on to register an FIR in this connection,” Sahay said.
An official said the raids were conducted in Ancient Marine Cosmo in Ramgarh. Apart from this, raids were also conducted at Ratu Chatti, Pee Pee Compound and other locations.
“Items seized included nail polish, hair conditioner, hand wash, hair colour powder and perfumes besides others. Apart from this, Hydrochloric Acid, black and white disinfectant and toilet cleaner being used as components to prepare cosmetic items were also recovered. The teams also recovered a sealing and punching machine beside a cash memo reflecting the illegal business,” the official said.
Sahay said some more raids are being planned to ensure that no one dares to carry out illegal business of cosmetic items. Cosmetic products produced and sold illegally are a major threat to the security of skin.
