Colombo, April 18: Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa named 17 Cabinet Ministers on Monday, despite the fact that anti-government rallies are intensifying in the wake of the country’s economic and political turmoil.

The new Ministers were chosen with the goal of ensuring the administration’s smooth operation. At the President’s residence, they were sworn in.

Notably, President Rajapaksa has reshuffled his cabinet for the third time. While the new Cabinet will include eight former ministers, it will also include a lot of new faces, according to Colombo Page.

In the midst of the biggest economic crisis in the island’s history, the entire government of 26 ministers, with the exception of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, resigned from their various positions on April 3.
