Meerut: The murder of Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Meerut has taken a spine-chilling turn with police revealing disturbing details about the role of his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla. Sahil not only manipulated Muskan emotionally but also psychologically coerced her into stabbing her unconscious husband thrice in the heart—allegedly promising her a new life.
Murder Under The Spell Of Occult
According to police, the murder was far from spontaneous—it was the culmination of months of manipulation. Sahil, whose room was reportedly filled with satanic symbols, drug paraphernalia, and graffiti like “You can’t trip with us,” created an environment that deeply influenced Muskan. Her parents accused Sahil of turning her into an addict and estranging her from her six-year-old daughter.
Saurabh’s mother, Renu Devi, even claimed that the murder had signs of a tantric ritual, linking Sahil’s obsession with occult practices to the brutal killing.
From Love Affair To Chilling Murder
Sahil and Muskan rekindled their relationship in 2019 via a school WhatsApp group. By November 2023, police say, Muskan began plotting her husband’s murder. She bought knives and sedatives under the pretext of cooking and even visited doctors pretending to have anxiety, all to obtain the drugs needed to incapacitate Saurabh.
On March 4, after drugging Saurabh’s drink, the duo stabbed him and later dismembered his body, stuffing the remains into a cement-filled drum. Following the murder, Muskan and Sahil vacationed in Himachal Pradesh and used Saurabh’s phone to fool his family.
Snapchat Used To Impersonate Dead Mother
In a startling twist, police found that Muskan had also created a fake Snapchat profile impersonating Sahil’s deceased mother. Through this, she manipulated him into believing his mother approved of the murder, giving their twisted plan a false moral justification.
The Final Moments
Muskan told police she was hesitant on the night of the crime. Sahil instructed her to sit on her husband’s chest and handed her a kitchen knife. When she hesitated, Sahil held her hand and guided it to stab Saurabh’s heart three times, police said.
Estrangement From Family Aided The Cover-Up
SP City Ayush Vikram Singh revealed that Saurabh was estranged from his family since marrying Muskan in 2016, a fact she counted on to cover up his disappearance. Muskan even told relatives that he had gone to a hill station and used his phone to text them, but suspicion grew when calls went unanswered. She eventually confessed to her parents, leading to her and Sahil’s arrest.
