Dhanbad, Aug 24: IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad is all set to host the two-day mega research innovation event ‘Smart India Hackathon 2022’ from tomorrow.
Dean (media and branding) of IIT ISM Prof Rajni Singh said that Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a nationwide initiative of the union ministry of education’s Innovation cell to provide students with a platform to solve the problems of different departments of government, industries and other organizations.
A total of 19 teams across the country having 113 participants will search for scientific solutions to fix problems in their 36 hours of continuous marathon sitting in the two-day mega event from August 25 to 26.
Each Problem solution has a winning award of Rs 1 lakh. Three prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs. 75000, and Rs. 50000 will be provided to the winning teams.
IIT ISM official said the union Ministry of Education will inaugurate the programme at 9 am tomorrow.
Prof Rajni Singh said SIH is conducted every year since 2017 in two forms SIH Software and SIH Hardware edition for higher education students. “The event is acclaimed as the world’s biggest open innovation model for problem-solving. This year, ‘Smart India Hackathon-Junior’ has also been introduced for school students to build a culture of Innovation and problem-solving attitude at the school level,” she said.
Smart India Hackathon 2022 software grand finale is scheduled from 25th august to 26th August while the Smart India Hackathon 2022 hardware grand finale is scheduled from 25th August to 29th August 2022.
As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Union Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has identified 75 higher educational institutes for Smart India Hackathon centres to facilitate an environment to conduct the innovation.
IIT ISM Dhanbad has been selected as one of the nodal centres to facilitate the Smart India Hackathon Software edition.
