Stage set for first national Master Cricket Tournament from Nov 2

Dhanbad, Oct 31: Stage is set for the first national Master Cricket Tournament featuring players over 60 years which will kick-start at the Keenan Stadium and Tata Motors Cricket Ground in Jamshedpur from November 2 to 4.

Former Bihar Ranji Trophy captain and ace spinner Avinash Kumar said that all four participant teams will arrive tomorrow (November 1). The matches will start at 9.30 am on Thursday. The winning team would be given the Pankaj Memorial Cup.

Hemant Gupta, head of sports, Tata Steel will be the chief guest in the inaugural function on November 2 while Verinder Bhoombla, founder chairman of Veteran India Cricket Foundation will grace the occasion as the guest of honour.

Verinder Bhoombla, who is also the chairman of the Over 60s Cricket Tournament is coming directly from London to attend the  Master Cricket Tournament. Besides him, Ravi Raman of Chennai will also be present on November 2 to attend the tournament. Raman is the coordinator of the second over 60s World Cup Cricket scheduled to be held in Chennai in February  2024.

At the second venue of the tournament i.e. Tata Motors Cricket Ground on November 2, Vivek Singh, head of administration and security, Tata Motors will be the chief guest in the inaugural function.

The tournament has become a centre of attraction for Jamshedpur sports lovers as after decades the old star cricketers of the country would be seen in action.
