RANCHI: In a unique gesture celebrating women’s strength and empowerment, a Durga Puja pandal in Ranchi’s Namkum area has become the center of attention. The Jay Mata Di Durga Puja Committee has installed a life-size statue of Kalpana Soren, wife of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, portraying her as a symbol of Goddess Durga.
The pandal not only features Kalpana Soren but also includes statues of Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Vinesh Phogat, wrestler and Congress leader. These women have been depicted as embodiments of Goddess Durga, highlighting their contributions and strength.
Message of Women Empowerment
The president of the Jay Mata Di Durga Puja Committee, Vinod Singh, explained that the installation of statues of prominent women is meant to convey a message that every individual should revere and respect the women in their lives as goddesses. He praised Kalpana Soren for her resilience, stating that after Hemant Soren’s legal troubles, she stood strong against the opposition and emerged as a formidable leader—a role model for other women.
Icons of Strength and Valor
Alongside Kalpana Soren, Rohini Acharya and Vinesh Phogat have been given special importance in the pandal. Rohini Acharya is portrayed as a goddess who fights for justice, while Vinesh Phogat is depicted as a symbol of national pride, battling adversaries on behalf of the country.
The committee has been organizing Durga Puja in an innovative way for the past five years, but this year’s pandal has drawn particular attention for its unique focus on women’s empowerment and strength.
