Dhanbad, March 29: The Bank Employees Federation of Jharkhand (BEFJ) today claimed that bank services in the state remain paralyzed on the second successive day and the success of the two-day strike showed that people are against the central government’s anti-labour policies.
BEFJ general secretary ML Singh claimed that the bank strike was completely successful in all 24 districts of the state as all the employees, including female staff did not work and sat on a dharna. They demonstrated in protest against the policies of the central government.
“No doubt that the State Bank of India (SBI) and some branches of Gramin Kshetriya Bank were opened in the state, but branches of all other banks, even some private financial institutions in Jharkhand, remain closed in support of the two-day strike of the Federation,” said ML Singh.
Federation leaders said bank employees in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Dumka and Deoghar observed the strike showing solidarity with the federation and did not allow official work in any branch in their district.
Singh said that besides banks, the employees of insurance companies, BSNL, postal services in the state also stood in solidarity with the federations and unions in the strike call.
The LIC employees federation claimed complete lockout in all 37 branches of Hazaribagh division on the second day of strike on Tuesday.
Vice-president of Hazaribagh LIC division employees federation Hemant Mishra said employees of all 37 branches continued the dharna and demonstration on the second day today and did not allow the office to function.
