Jamshedpur, June 14: All schools in Jamshedpur will remain closed till June 17 in the wake of the continued heatwave prevailing in the state.
A decision in this regard was taken by the school education and literacy department and notification was issued.
An official at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Jamshedpur confirmed this. The notification has been sent to schools for necessary action.
According to the notification schools will remain shut from nursery to Class VIII while classes will resume for senior students from class IX to XII.
All government schools and several minority aided and private schools were supposed to resume classes after summer vacation on Monday, June 12 but after the government notification, all government, private and aided schools were asked to resume classes from June 15.
But, in view of the relentless heat wave continuing for the last few days the summer vacation was further extended till June 17.
The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued a heatwave alert for the state till June 17 issuing an advisory to avoid going out in the open from 11 am to 3 pm.
The IMD has cautioned about heatwave conditions saying that there is less probability of any change in the next 72- hours.
