Ranchi, July 12: A day after the Supreme Court invalidated the tenure extension of ED director Sanjay Kumar Mishra limiting him to work till July 31, the JMM welcomed the decision saying that the apex court has exposed the ‘Charitra (character)’ and ‘Chehra (face)’ of the BJP.

Addressing a press conference, Party’s senior leader Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the JMM, right from the beginning, had been saying that the BJP is misusing the central probe agencies like CBI, ED and IT besides others in the non-BJP ruled states to harass the government and with the Supreme Court order it has been officially proved.

JMM leader Bhattacharya pointed out laundering of money through electoral bonds and raised doubts over the integrity of the central probe agency not probing the same.

“According to Election Commission of India data Rs 9188.75 crore was collected through electoral bonds in the year 2021-22 by political parties. Out of the total amount 55 percent (Rs 5271.975) belongs to the BJP. This is money laundering in the name of electoral bonds but the ED has not taken note of this,” Bhattacharya said.

The JMM leader reiterated its statement saying he had rightly said earlier that the ED means ‘End of Democracy’. “During 9 years the central probe agency has registered as many as 3310 cases. Out of the total accused involved in these cases only 23 have been convicted. This reflects the way the ED is working,” he said.
