New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by political strategist Prashant Kishor seeking cancellation of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 and a fresh mandate. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Suryakant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, refused to entertain the plea.
The petition had alleged that during the model code of conduct, certain political actions—such as offering ₹10,000 to women voters—violated electoral fairness. However, the court found no constitutional basis to intervene.
Prashant Kishor’s legal counsel later sought permission to withdraw the petition and approach the High Court instead, but the Supreme Court denied even that request and dismissed the case outright.
The petition was filed under Article 32 of the Constitution, challenging the integrity of electoral conduct during the enforcement of the model code.
