Ranchi, June 16: The Supreme Court has listed for hearing the SLP of the Jharkhand government challenging the maintainability order passed by the Jharkhand High Court in the favour of the two PILs against chief minister Hemant Soren.
According to the information, the SLP will be heard on June 17 by Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Justice Hima Kohli. The SLP 1062 and 1063/2022 have been listed as item number 6 by the vacation court of the Supreme Court. The twin PIL 4290/2021 related to shell companies and 727/2022 related to the CM availing mining lease were listed for hearing on June 17 by the division bench of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad.
The state government challenged the maintainability order passed by the High Court. Earlier in the morning, Jharkhand High Court refused the request of the Jharkhand government to defer the hearing of the PILs. The Advocate General of Jharkhand on Wednesday filed a petition to seek an adjournment.
The High Court rejected the contention and said that it would list both PILs for hearing on June 17. It said that it would take a decision during the hearing whether to continue the hearing or defer it as requested by the state of Jharkhand. The High Court said that the state should be prepared for a hearing on June 17.
