New Delhi: The official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India was taken down after hackers posted a message promoting a cryptocurrency firm based in the US. The Supreme Court Registrar has confirmed that the channel will resume shortly.
The cyber attack occurred when a blank video titled “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine. XRP PRICE PREDICTION” was posted on the channel, referring to a cryptocurrency-related issue. The channel has been temporarily suspended as authorities work to restore it.
The Supreme Court has been using its YouTube channel to livestream Constitution bench hearings and public interest cases, in line with its 2018 decision to provide real-time access to its proceedings. This initiative, led by former Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, aimed to bring transparency and ensure that citizens across the country can observe important court cases.
The Supreme Court’s channel will soon be restored, and normal livestreaming is expected to resume shortly.
