Surekha Sikri, ‘Dadi Sa’ of ‘Balika Vadhu’ is no more, dies of heart attack

Lagatar Desk: Veteran TV actress Surekha Sikri has passed away at the age of 75. He had a heart attack this morning. The actress was running ill for a long time. Surekha Sikri had brain stroke for the second time in 2020. Since then his health was bad. Surekha Sikri also suffered a paralytic stroke in 2018.

Wave of mourning in Bollywood and TV world

There is a wave of mourning in the Bollywood and TV world due to the death of Surekha. Many celebs have expressed grief over the death of Surekha Sikri. Many celebs including fans are paying tribute to him on social media. Surekha Sikri did strong acting in many films and serials in her career. But the role of Kalyani Devi i.e. grandmother in Balika Vadhu made her popular in every household.

Surekha got National Award thrice

Please tell that Surekha Sikri has worked in many big shows and films including the popular show Balika Vadhu. Surekha made her acting debut in 1978 with the political drama film ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’. She also received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress thrice. These films were Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995) and Badhaai Ho (2018).

Surekha played the role of Durga Devi Kaushik in the 2018 release Badhaai Ho. In this role too, Surekha won the hearts of the people. Surekha received the National Award for this role. Surekha had come to collect the National Award sitting on a wheel chair.

Surekha was born in Uttar Pradesh. But her childhood was spent in Almora and Nainital. His father was in the Air Force and mother was a teacher. In 1971, Surekha studied at the National School of Drama. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1989. Surekha married Hemant Rege. Her husband passed away in 2009. They have a son, Rahul Sikri.
