Jamshedpur, Aug 21: A 45-year-old man identified as Arjun Surin was suspected to have been killed by Naxals in suspicion of informer under the Goelkera thana area of the West Singhbhum district on Monday.
Arjun Surin’s body was found hanging from a tree six days after he was abducted by a group of armed men from his house at Bangram in Goelkera.
Police suspect it to be a Naxal-sponsored killing as a day earlier a 62-year-old villager’s mutilated body was found in the Lobabera jungle with Naxal pamphlets lying beside the body. Significantly, the murder victim identified as Rando Surin was also abducted by a group of armed men from his house at Kadamdiha six days ago in a similar way Arjun Surin had been abducted.
After two villagers’ bodies were recovered back to back in the area, the local residents have become extremely frightened. The villagers are not at all ready to speak anything to the police about what meted out to them during this period of the past few days.
It may be mentioned here that the police and paramilitary forces are carrying out anti-insurgency operations in Kolhan and adjoining Porahat forest divisions where a large number of Naxals have sneaked into for committing subversive activities there.
