Ranchi, Sept 7: The three suspended MLAs of Jharkhand Congress sought eight weeks time from the court of Jharkhand assembly Speaker to file their reply in the matter related to their disqualification.
State rural development minister and the leader of the Congress legislative party Alamgir Alam has filed a petition to seek disqualification of Irfan Ansari, Naman Bixel Kongari and Rajesh Kacchap on the ground of anti-party activities.
They were arrested at Howrah on July 30 along with Rs 49 Lakh cash. Bengal police alleged these MLAs got a kickback from the BJP to topple Hemant Soren led JMM-Congress-RJD government. They were suspended from the party on the charge of anti-party activities.
Ravi Kumar who appeared on behalf of three MLAs said that his clients are currently on three months of interim bail granted by Calcutta High court. But these MLAs can’t appear before the court of Speaker as the Calcutta High court has restricted them from leaving Calcutta.
“I requested eight weeks’ time to file the reply. The Speaker has assured that sufficient time will be allotted to my clients. He said that my clients will be apprised off about the new date,” said Ravi Kumar.
