Rahul Sinha, another BJP leader, was also detained when Bengal BJP members fought with police as part of a protest march against the TMC administration.

Suvendu Adhikari, Locket Chatterjee, and Rahul Sinha, three members of the BJP, were detained and transferred to the Lalbazar headquarters of the Kolkata Police.

Before the detention, Adhikari said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has turned West Bengal into North Korea.

“Chief Minister Mamata does not have the support of her people and so she is enforcing dictatorship, similar to North Korea in Bengal. Police will have to pay for what it is doing. BJP is coming,” he said.

The march is being held in retaliation for the TMC government’s allegedly corrupt actions.

The state police have blocked the entrance to train stations as hundreds of BJP members travel by train to Kolkata to participate in the party’s “Nabanna March.”
