Earlier, Kohli surpassed Mahela Jayawardene’s 2014 record of 1016 runs to become the all-time leading run scorer in men’s T20 World Cup matches against Bangladesh in Adelaide. In the 15th over of India’s inning, Kohli needed 42 runs to reach the milestone of 4000 T20I runs and did so with a boundary off Adil Rashid.
The only male cricketer to receive Player of the Tournament honours in both the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cups was Kohli. Additionally, Kohli has scored the most runs in T20I cricket history. He is listed before Paul Stirling, Martin Guptill, Babar Azam, and skipper Rohit Sharma. At the moment, Kohli has a strike rate of about 140 and an average of over 50.
With almost 270 runs in 6 games of the T20 World Cup 2022, Kohli is also the leading scorer. Despite Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s struggles to consistently get going, the great batsman has served as India’s batting line-anchor.
With an incredible 53-ball 82 not out in India’s Super 12 debut against Pakistan in Melbourne, Kohli helped his team out of trouble. He continued in fine form throughout the competition, scoring two more fifty-plus scores.
