Ramgarh, March 30: Baushuan Ger, the representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center, New Delhi, which is established in India as the Embassy of Taiwan country, reached the China Cemetery in Ramgarh.
He was accompanied by Assistant Representative Hanpin Huang, Liaisoning Section Director Tshou E Xuan and Chinese David from Kolkata.
The officials first bowed down by offering flowers at the Victory Stambh located in the middle of the cemetery. After this, everyone offered prayers in the Buddhist temple.
While observing the entire cemetery, the officers also paid homage to the graves of their martyr soldiers. Baushuan Ger said that they have arrived here in honour of the martyred Taiwanese soldiers. The government of the Republic of China believes that there are graves of Taiwanese soldiers here.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Center as the Embassy of Taiwan in India is located in the Vasant Vihar area of New Delhi. These centers of Taiwan are also established in other countries. It was established in India in 1995.
The Chine Cemetery houses the graves of 667 soldiers who died during World War II. It includes the graves of those who were killed during the manoeuvres due to snake bites and serious diseases.
It is said that the soldiers who were martyred were geographically from Taiwan.
Taiwan is an island separate from China. However, China has always considered it as its part. There has been a long-standing dispute between the two countries regarding this.
Taiwan has its own government which operates according to a multi-party democratic system. A huge pillar in the center of the cemetery is also erected in honour of Taiwan’s famous military leader Chang Kai-shek.
