Tamil Nadu: DVAC searches premises of two AIADMK ex-Ministers

New Delhi, Sept 13: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) searched more than 20 locations on Tuesday connected to the two former ministers of the AIADMK, C. S.P. Vijayabaskar and Velumani in two different cases of corruption that were filed against them.

The former Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar’s home in Illupur, Pudukottai district as well as 12 other locations throughout the State were searched. The National Medical Commission’s rules were broken when the Essentiality Certificate for Vels Medical College and Hospital in 2020 was issued irregularly, according to the case filed against him.

Around 6:30 a.m., a DVAC team of seven people started their search. at Vijayabaskar’s home in Illupur, Pudukottai district, following the filing of a First Information Report. According to police sources, Vijayabaskar was not home when the search was conducted. At Salem, Madurai, Theni, Thiruvallur, Chennai, and Salem searches are being undertaken.

After filing a case alleging that Vijayabaskar and his wife had disproportionate assets, the DVAC conducted simultaneous searches of their homes in the Pudukottai district and other locations in the State in October of last year.
