Jamshedpur, Oct 20: A rooftop solar power project of 1.73 MWp capacity was installed at the Cold Rolling Mill of Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur works.
The facility was inaugurated by Avneesh Gupta, Vice President Total Quality Management & Projects, Tata Steel on Wednesday.
This is the second such installation of solar power project inside Jamshedpur Works thereby reiterating the company’s commitment towards sustainability.
The first rooftop solar project of 2.2 MWp was commissioned last month at the Central Warehouse inside Tata Steel.
The project has been commissioned by Tata Power under the larger agreement with Tata Steel for the installation of a total of 41 MW at various locations with a combination of the rooftop, floating and ground-mounted.
Notably, in the recent past, power generation from solar and non-conventional energy sources has gained momentum across its operating locations.
“Tata Steel continues on its pursuit of clean energy solutions and expanding its renewable energy footprint, ” said a company spokesman.
