Dhanbad, May 23: Ten-day summer camp for budding sports talents began at Tata Feeder Centre, Digwadih stadium on Tuesday to hone their skill.

The special summer camp is being organized by the Tata Steel Foundation, Jharia Division in which over 500 sports-interested children from 30 schools of Jharia and its surrounding areas are participating.

Narendra Kumar Gupta, chief of Jamadoba group of Jharia Division of Tata Steel, inaugurated the summer camp and expressed hope that participant school children would be able to learn new techniques in their choice of sports events and learn basic ‘Mantra’ ( guidelines) of body fitness.

The official said state, national and internationally reputed sports persons, experienced coaches and athletes will train the participating school kids in over dozen disciplines including archery, football, athletics and other events.

The camp would run for two hours between 6 am to 8 am per day at the famous Digwadih Stadium.

The participant school kids and their guardians are upbeat about classes in the camp and they expressed hope that former star players and experienced coaches would guide them to go on the right path of sports.

“My son has an interest in football.  There is no football training facility in the area where we live. So in the 10 days camp at Jamadoba my son would try to learn from the experienced coach about basic techniques required for a player to pursue a career in soccer,” commented a guardian from Jharia.
