Jamshedpur, Nov 17: An important event in steel city’s sporting calendar steel city is all set to host Jamshedpur Run-a-thon 2022 on November 20.
Jamshedpur Run-a-thon is a marquee event which is organised every year to instil a sense of fitness among the citizens of Jamshedpur.
It is happening in ‘physical mode’ after a gap of two years with a theme of “Fitness is Fun, Just Run!”
Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services Tata Steel said, “Post pandemic all of us have realised the importance of health and fitness and Jamshedpur Run-a-thon is the perfect event to kick-start the habit of healthy living which can be achieved in an enjoyable manner. ”
Jamshedpur Run-a-thon is an event that not only witnesses participation from all age groups but also provides a platform where people can rejuvenate and relish the experience.
The route this year has been charted to ensure that the runners experience the iconic spots of Jamshedpur in their early morning run.
From lush green Kadma-Sonari Link road to Tata Steel Zoological Park to Jayanti Sarovar to Jubilee Park to The Furnace.
This year, the Jamshedpur Run-a-thon is being organised in four categories. While the 10-KM and 7-KM have an age limit of 19 years and above, the 5-KM category will be open to children and adults aged 16 to 19 years. These three categories, competitive in nature, will have a prize money attached to it. The 10-KM is the internationally approved distance for road races by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
The 2022 edition of Tata Steel Jamshedpur Run-a-thon has encouraged participation from all walks of life – particularly in the segments of trans-genders and senior citizens in addition to usual categories such as – Boys, Girls, Men and Women.
The last physical edition of the Jamshedpur Run-a-thon was organised in 2019, wherein more than 4500 participants participated across three categories, representing 14 states.
In 2020 and 2021, the virtual format of the Run-a-thon was organised to ensure and keep the running community engaged.
The virtual Run witnessed the participation of more than 3000 individuals in each of both editions.
