Jamshedpur, May 10: In an attempt to meet the growing consumption of drinking water, Tata Steel UISL (Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited), formerly JUSCO, has constructed a 3 Million Gallon per Day (MGD) water treatment plant at Ramadhin Bagan, near ISWP Transportation Park in Jamshedpur.
The water treatment plant (WTP) will be catering to the drinking water needs of various locations like Namda Basti, JEMCO Azad Basti, Gowala Basti, Ramadin Bagan, Manifit Basti, Mohananda Basti and several other places confronting drinking water crisis.
The plant was jointly inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel and Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL last evening.
The plant is equipped with the latest technologies and equipment, which ensures the highest level of efficiency and reliability. Disinfection is done through an Electro-chlorination plant, thus eliminating the usage of liquid chlorine.
The wastewater generated in filter beds is recycled back to the inlet zone. The plant is equipped with a laboratory facility for physico-chemical as well as micro-biological analysis. The automation system consists of PLC controlled filter bed, pump house and clarifier systems
The water treatment plant is expected to play a critical role in meeting the growing demand for purified water in the region and supporting the sustainable development of the industrial sector.
