S Radhakrishnan, the second president of India had visited Jamshedpur on May 4, 1966, to inaugurate the Sakchi-based Bodhi Temple which was founded by the Bodhi Society and the society assisted by Dalai Lama, and the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur.

” Addressing an august  gathering during his visit to the temple Dr. Radhakrishnan expressed that he was happy to see good work in the city for the prosperity of the nation. He spoke about the love for humanity as the principles of the religion that Buddha preached and practiced, which must be followed. He also cited the importance of meditation, ” said the senior member of the Bodhi Society.
