Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, leading the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, lashed out at the BJP and the Election Commission during a rally in Gaya. The yatra, which began on August 17, will conclude on September 1 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. On its third day, Tejashwi addressed people in Gaya, highlighting alleged irregularities in voter lists and the need to safeguard democracy.
Tejashwi Targets BJP and EC
During his speech, Tejashwi accused the BJP of first “capturing” the Election Commission and now attempting to “steal votes.” He claimed the people of Bihar were aware of these actions and would not allow democracy to be destroyed.
Sharp Remarks on Gyanesh Kumar
Tejashwi strongly criticized the Election Commission’s recent press conference, alleging it failed to provide clear answers or present convincing arguments in court. He accused Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of following directives from the PMO, adding, “If he has taken BJP membership, then why be ashamed of admitting it?”
Purpose of the Yatra
The INDIA bloc’s Voter Adhikar Yatra will cover 23 districts across Bihar, aiming to raise awareness about alleged voter list manipulations, the special intensive revision (SIR) process, and the importance of transparent elections. Tejashwi emphasized that democracy could only remain safe if every citizen’s voting rights were protected.
