New Delhi: On the 8th day of rescue operations following a tunnel collapse in Telangana, state minister Krishna Raoannounced that the whereabouts of four trapped workers have been located. The incident occurred in the SLBC tunnel near Mana, where more than 500 rescuers have been deployed.

Officials report that eight individuals were initially trapped in the tunnel after a section collapsed six days ago. However, recent updates indicate that the positions of four of these workers have now been identified. Meanwhile, Nagarkurnool district collector B Santhosh refuted claims—circulating on social media—that ground-penetrating radar images from NGRI showed human bodies amidst the debris. He clarified, “We have noticed fake news suggesting bodies have been found. This is not true, and we will update the media if any such information is confirmed.”

Following government directives, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd has deployed 200 personnel to support the rescue efforts. Additionally, South Central Railway (SCR) has mobilized specialized teams equipped with plasma cutters and Brocho cutting machines to assist in clearing the blocked roads and accessing the site.

The eight individuals trapped in the tunnel have been identified as follows:

• Manoj Kumar and Sri Niwas from Uttar Pradesh

• Sunny Singh from Jammu & Kashmir

• Gurpreet Singh from Punjab

• Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu, and Anuj Sahu from Jharkhand

Among these, two are engineers, two are operators, and the remaining four are laborers from Jharkhand employed by Jaiprakash Associates, the contracting firm for the SLBC tunnel project.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as rescue operations persist under adverse weather conditions. Efforts are underway to ensure the safe extraction and treatment of all trapped workers.
