New Delhi, Nov 28: At least ten people were detained in Brussels after riots broke out after Morocco defeated Belgium 2-0 at the World Cup in Qatar, according to the Belgian-based RTBF network.
After Belgium’s defeat on Sunday, a number of protesters lit trash cans on fire and flung bricks at moving vehicles in the heart of Brussels. According to media accounts, police deployed tear gas and water cannons and there were casualties.
According to the broadcaster based in Belgium, during the rioting, around 10 administrative arrests and one judicial arrest were made.

Le Soir reported that on Sunday, roughly ten arrests were made in the port city of Antwerp. During the Sunday riots, there were reports of transportation problems in Belgium.
Earlier, Morocco defeated Belgium 2-0 in a Group F game at Al Thumama Stadium thanks to late goals from Abdelhamid Sabiri and Zakaria Aboukhlal. The FIFA World Cup 2022 turned out to have yet another upset.
Roberto Martinez, the manager of Belgium, claimed after his team’s defeat by Morocco that his team’s failure to score was largely due to the opponents’ opening goal, which had a significant impact on the outcome.
