New Delhi, March 29: NSAs and senior officials from the member nations gathered in the national capital of India, which is the chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), under the leadership of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
NSA Doval said in his opening remarks that “Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and its financing are amongst the most serious threats to international peace and security. Any act of terrorism, regardless of its motivation, is unjustifiable.”
“The Charter calls upon member states to have mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity of states, non use of force or threat of its use in international relations, and seeking no unilateral military superiority in areas.” he added, addressing the member states present in New Delhi.
According to sources, Pakistan and China virtually attended the conference. Nikolai Patrushev, the Russian Federation’s Secretary of the Security Council, is also present.
India is hosting a number of activities in the run-up to the SCO summit, which is scheduled to take place in Goa this summer. Interestingly, the defence ministers’ gathering, which will take place in Delhi from April 27 to 29, will be the next significant SCO gathering.
India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are the eight member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), an intergovernmental group that was founded in 2001. Established more than twenty years ago with the goal of fostering political, military, and economic cooperation among its member countries, the SCO is a significant regional powerhouse. The eight SCO members account for 25% of the world’s GDP and almost 42% of the world’s population.
In 2022, India assumed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Chairship for 2023.
